Ray Hassard was born and raised in the New York area. Growing up, he attended Saturday classes at the Museum of Modern Art, and took community art classes at local schools and art organizations. Ray studied at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn and, more importantly, spent many hours at New York’s wonderful museums and galleries.
Ray belongs to the Pastel Society of America and the Indiana Plein Air Painters Association. He is a signature member of the Cincinnati Art Club. Ray was recently awarded Signature Status by MidAmerica Pastel Society and he is designated Master Pastellist by the Midwest America Pastel Society.
Ray finds inspiration for his painting from his travels. He returned to India for the sixth time in 2009 to paint en plein air, and recently returned from painting in Spain, Italy France and Croatia. In addition to teaching at Baker Hunt, Ray leads art workshops around the United States.
